Sulman describes her early life in a small Lithuanian town (in what was then called Kovna Gubernia, under Russian rule). She left at age 14, coming to Seattle via Boston, Massachusetts, and Bellingham, Washington. She describes her work for the Bikur Cholim Machzikay Hadath Sisterhood, Mizrachi, and Talmud Torah. She also discusses her family life, entertaining soldiers during World War II, and her personal commendation from Secretary Henry Morgenthau (of the U.S. Treasury Dept.) for her bond sales during World War II.
